Glengoyne Distillery awarded Green Tourism Gold
The next time you visit Glengoyne Distillery, you will see a Green Tourism Gold Award proudly displayed at the entrance. This is in recognition of the distillery’s commitment to achieving the highest standards of sustainability in all aspects of distillery life, from whisky-making to visitor experiences.
The Green Tourism Gold award is independently assessed using sustainable standards widely recognised across the tourism sector. The distillery’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, minimise waste and promote sustainable tourism were all key areas of focus.
Glengoyne’s sustainability journey started several years ago when it became the first distillery to introduce a wetlands facility for naturally managing liquid waste. Today, the wetlands are a thriving haven for local wildlife, including migrating geese, and investment in sustainable practices has grown to include wind power.
The distillery is committed to keeping up the Gold standard. The Glengoyne Green Team is already working on several exciting and ambitious new ideas to support this. With enthusiastic members from all parts of the business committed to sustainability and ensuring that all things green flourish at the picturesque site in the Dumgoyne Hills.
The Green Tourism Gold Award is a significant achievement. If you haven’t already visited to see and taste Glengoyne’s unique and award-winning whisky, maybe it’s time to plan a visit. Why not travel sustainably with good routes by bus, bike and even on foot via the West Highland Way?
