Activities to keep everyone busy!



While some enjoy a relaxing short break, just chilling away from work and school, others may want to cram in as much as possible while somewhere new and have an action-packed few days. Here at Loch Lomond, The Trossachs and Clyde Sea Lochs, we have lots to keep the energetic family members occupied and have a break filled with great activities that will keep them happy! We even have a fantastic competition for a fun-filled glamping break including activities. Read on, to find out how to enter the competition and what else our destination has to fill your days.

Adrenaline Junkies

2-Night Glamping Giveaway!

We have a fantastic prize to giveaway to one lucky winner this month, thanks to Action Adventure Activities based in Gartmore.

They are offering a 2-Night Glamping Activity Break for two to include a choice from Paddle Sports - (Canoe, Kayak & Paddle Boarding), and Target Sports (Archery, Axe Throwing, Air Pistol & Crossbow Shooting) for 2 persons.

The 2 night break is valid for the months of June, July and August 2023.

At least one participant needs to be 18 years and it would be for a Friday arrival. It would be subject to their normal Glamping Break Ts & Cs. A refundable security deposit of £50pp will be required at the time of booking.

For those who love a burst of adrenaline we’ve got the aerial adventure course at Treezone, In Your Element offers a whole host of outdoor activities including axe throwing, guided canoe trips and archery. From May and throughout the summer Loch Lomond Water Ski Club welcome visitors and can help you find our feet on Loch Lomond. Based in Luss, 4x4 Adventures offer visitors off-road driving experiences through spectacular scenery and Inchbaggers Island Swims will help you navigate the waters of Loch Lomond safely with their cold water swimming lessons.

For Everyone

The SEA LIFE Loch Lomond Aquarium is a great place to visit for all the family to take a journey from Loch Lomond to the world’s oceans with their 7 different themed areas. Cruise Loch Lomond, based in Tarbet, offer a range of daily scheduled cruises with commentary from Tarbet and Luss, while Balloch-based Sweeney’s Cruises also offer a range of daily scheduled cruises with commentary. The Loch Lomond Faerie Trail is a magical, self-guided, adventure in Luss for the whole family.

Loch Lomond Leisure provide speedboat tours, watersports, paddlesports, boat and bike hire from several locations around Loch Lomond while Portnellan Farm Speedboat Tours offer a range of tours for up to eight people from their base at Gartocharn. Portnellan Farm Tours offer a wonderful behind the scenes look at a family run farm and can be booked for small or large groups. Loch Lomond Shores is a 5* visitor attraction in Balloch that offers something for everyone on the banks of Loch Lomond. It is home to Treezone, SEA LIFE Loch Lomond, watersports, adventure golf, a bird of prey centre and a range of shops including Sports Direct, Frasers and small boutique stores. It also has a children’s playpark, woodland and beaches that the whole family can enjoy. Cameron House, a resort set on the banks of Loch Lomond has a whole host of bookable activities and adventures available – from clay pigeon shooting and pony trekking to site seeing boat and plane trips. In addition, the Cameron Club & Spa provides the stunning backdrop to ultimate relaxation.

History Enthusiasts

The Scottish Maritime Museum has fascinating displays from the ship building industry between the 1800s and 1963, including the world’s first commercial ship model experiment tank which is the length of a football pitch! Dumbarton Castle offers a fascinating history lesson as a stronghold that once sat at the heart of an ancient kingdom while Doune Castle is a popular filming location and has featured in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Outlander and Game of Thrones.

Golfers

Cameron House has two stunning loch-side golf courses to enjoy as guests while Buchanan Castle Golf Club in Drymen is a beautiful parkland golf course set within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Shopaholics

Loch Lomond Shores is set on the banks of Loch Lomond in Balloch and has a whole range of amenities, including a shopping mall. Shop high street stores including Sports Direct, Frasers, Pavers and Hawkshead or browse through the range of small, boutique stores including Keepsake Scotland for gifts, Grape Tree for health foods and Stevie’s Drams for a wee dram to take home and enjoy while reminiscing about your stay.

There are also a host of great shops located within local villages and towns throughout the area that you can enjoy browsing through.

Foodies

Glengoyne Distillery is a Highland Distillery which offers whisky tours, tastings and a well-stocked store. Set in the shadows of Stirling Castle, Stirling Distillery is Stirling’s first distillery and offers gin tours, tastings and the change to purchase a souvenir bottle or two.

Stevie’s Drams at Loch Lomond Shores is a specialist whisky and gin store that is a mecca for enthusiasts and well worth a visit for something different or local.

St Mocha is a specialty coffee shop and ice cream parlour in Balmaha as well as the St Mocha Drive-Thru at Carbeth and offers visitors the chance to taste Loch Lomond’s only coffee as well as snacks and homemade ice-cream. The Oak Tree Inn is next to St Mocha in Balmaha and has a popular restaurant featuring great Scottish food and drink. The Station Coffee Shop in Aberfoyle is right in the heart of this popular tourist town and is a great stop off for tasty snacks and hot drinks.

The Lodge on Loch Lomond’s Colquhoun’s Restaurant not only features knock out views of Loch Lomond, it also has The AA 2 rosettes for culinary excellence and offers fine British modern dining. If you’re an afternoon tea lover or want a quick breakfast, lunch or snack with loch views and modern décor, Café Zest at Loch Lomond Shores is a great place to stop off and take a well-deserved break. Cameron House has a range of restaurants and bars to enjoy – whether you’re looking for an amazing fine dining experience or a cocktail on a Loch view balcony.

Scottish country house, Knockderry House has an award winning restaurant which is perfect for a special dinner and features a menu full of the best in locally sourced Scottish produce.

The Slanj Bar & Restaurant in Tarbet offers delicious home-cooked food and warm Scottish hospitality and whilst you are there why not sample some of their fabulous

Nature Lovers

The RSPB Loch Lomond Nature Reserve in Gartocharn is set on the banks of Loch Lomond in a stunning mix of woodlands and wetlands and has a calendar of activities throughout the year for children and adults to enjoy. The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park is a beautiful and diverse national park and its website features all sorts of information on exploring will help you plan your adventures while visiting it. Lodge Forest Visitors Centre is set in the stunning Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and is home to trails, treetop adventures, café and lots of information on how to explore the park.
