Tarbet

In Gaelic 'a place of portage' – in this case between Loch Lomond and the salt water of Loch Long - Tarbet is on an important junction between west and north. As an old-established community catering for travellers, many famous names have passed through here, including Robert Burns and the Wordsworths. As well as accommodation and places to eat, it has an attractive shoreline and offers regular loch cruising.
