Walking Theatre Celebrates National Parks Week with Two Outdoor Plays
As part of National Parks Week Celebrations for 2013, The Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs have joined up with The Walking Theatre Company to perform two special outdoor plays at Loch Lomond Shores.
Kicking off the event is Whisky Galorious on Thursday 1st August. This family-friendly play tells the story of Highland smugglers on Loch Lomond on the run from the ‘Revenue’ men. They’ve been making infernal home brew, ‘uisge beatha’, whisky, without paying taxes.
Following this is The Celtic Tree Walk on Saturday 3rd August. It tells the tale of trees in the woods around Loch Lomond Shores going missing and Titania, the ‘Queen of the Fairies’, is very, very grumpy. A great play for all the family, children are encouraged to dress up to help the fairies protect a magical place.
The lively performances take visitors on a journey around Loch Lomond Shores allowing them to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the national park while being entertained and interacting with the professional actors.
Clare Gemmell, Loch Lomond Shores Manager, says: ‘The Walking Theatre Company is no stranger to Loch Lomond Shores having staged our Plays in the Park over the last few months.
‘They have been so popular with our visitors that we are delighted The Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs have chosen to host them here as part of the National Parks Week. They are fantastic fun and a perfect way to entertain the family during the holidays’.
Both plays start at 2.30pm and are listed on the Love Loch Lomond What's On page.
Tickets should be purchased in advance via itison.com.
