New Pods bring Glamping to Lomond Woods Holiday Park

Is it a gingerbread house? Is it where the three little pigs now reside? No actually, it’s neither. For those of you not already in the know, it’s a camping “pod” and the latest and most convenient way to experience 'glamping' in style.

'Glamping' is one of those new-fangled terms, a portmanteau word made by combining glamorous and camping, and also a craze that is rapidly becoming one of the coolest ways to enjoy a cost effective break that combines just the right amounts of luxury with “roughing it”.

Lomond Woods Holiday Park has recently welcomed three new pods (or camping lodges as the Holiday Park team call them) to its family of existing accommodation options which sit merrily alongside its caravan holiday homes, luxury lodges and touring pitches for caravans and motorhomes which will be available to visitors to book from Friday 4th April 2014.

The camping lodges which have parking for one car next to them, follow a simple concept:the insulated wooden structure keeps the warmth from the electric heating in and the cold out, and they are kitted out with a mini fridge, TV and kettle, offering a cosy and comfortable way for up to four people to enjoy a self-catering holiday with a difference.

Nestling amongst the hills and woodlands surrounding the world-famous Loch Lomond, Lomond Woods is a very special place, ideal for a family holiday, active short break or relaxing weekend retreat. The park, owned and managed by the Wood family has consistently earned top awards from Visit Scotland, most recently “Best Park in Scotland” and the coveted “Thistle Award” for Customer Care.

Lomond Woods now joins Deeside Holiday Park, Aberdeenshire, with its offering of “pod” accommodation and hopes to follow in the footsteps of its most northerly sister park which has seen their camping lodges full almost every night since their installation back in April last year.

Price per pod is £45 per night for two people, the pods can sleep up to four and nominal surcharges for additional occupants and pets apply.
