New DVD Collection Celebrates Scottish Walker Tom Weir

Scottish icon Tom Weir’s ground-breaking Scottish TV series Weir’s Way was broadcast from 1976 to 1987 and the classic series, comprising 52 episodes on 12 discs, including two hours of rarely seen extras, has been released this week on DVD in Weir’s Way – The Essential Collection.

The TV programme Weir’s Way follows Scottish walker Tom Weir as he meets the people, explores the landscape and uncovers the history of an extraordinary nation.

Weir wrote a column in The Scots Magazine which ran for more than fifty years and as well as being a writer, broadcaster and climber; he was a pioneering campaigner for the protection of the Scottish environment.

Weir, who lived in Gartocharn, won Scottish Television Personality of the Year Award in 1976 and in 2000 was awarded the inaugural John Muir Lifetime Achievement Award by the John Muir Trust, in recognition of his environmental work.

Weir’s Way – The Essential Collection is an ideal companion for everyone who shares Tom Weir’s passion for the beauty and splendour of Scotland.
