Loch Lomond Shores Goes Pink for Charity

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to help raise much-needed funds and awareness, staff at Loch Lomond Shores will wear their best and brightest pink clothes for a day.

Breast Cancer Care is a leading breast cancer charity and their annual charity event, the Big Pink, raises over £2 million each year. This year’s Big Pink will take place on Friday 16th October.

Past years have seen staff decked out in everything from pink onesies to pink tutus. Last year also saw the Lomond Duchess, the cruise ship operated by Sweeney’s Cruises, receive a pink makeover for the day. Staff at Loch Lomond Shores hope to replicate past years’ successes.

Natalie Lloyd, Fundraising Officer at Breast Cancer Care, added: “We’re so grateful to Loch Lomond Shores for holding a Big Pink event in aid of Breast Cancer Care. We rely on supporters like Loch Lomond Shores to ensure we can continue to provide our vital information and emotional support network for free. We help thousands of people find a way to live with, through and beyond breast cancer. With one in eight women developing breast cancer in their lifetime, there has never been such an urgent need for our support services.”

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, first introduced almost 20 years ago. It exists to help women be better aware of the common symptoms and seek help as early as possible, which increases their chances of survival.

About Breast Cancer Care:

Breast Cancer Care is the only specialist breast cancer support charity working throughout the UK. We were founded in 1973 by Betty Westgate, who was herself diagnosed with breast cancer. In the ensuing forty years we have supported millions of women and their families through our face-to-face, phone and online services. We also provide training, support and networking opportunities to specialist breast cancer nurses, and Breast Cancer Care publications are used by the majority of breast cancer units throughout the UK.  We campaign for better support and care and promote the importance of early detection, involving people with breast cancer in all that we do.
