Isle of Man Visitors Love Loch Lomond

Destination organisation Love Loch Lomond was delighted to welcome radio presenters Alex Brindley of radio show Alex in the Afternoon, Beth Espey of programme Women Today and David Buck from CityWing Airlines, Isle of Man, to experience some of the delights of Loch Lomond, Trossachs and the Clyde Sea Lochs recently.

The group of three visitors enjoyed a visit to the Denny Tank in Dumbarton, part of the Scottish Maritime Museum, where they were welcomed by Anne, who encouraged them to get hands on with lots of the displays – then they climbed the five hundred steps to admire the amazing views at Dumbarton Castle. Here they were welcomed by Rachel and Adrian who told fascinating tales of the castle’s history.

A delicious lunch was on offer from Cattle & Creel Seafood and Steak Bar in Helensburgh, then it was off to Knockderry Country House Hotel to check in, enjoy interviews with owner Beth McLeod and to find out about up and coming events in the local area. Beth and Alex had fun exploring the rooms in the hotel and made a video to show their delight!

The following day saw Alex, Beth and David enjoy more touring around Cove and the Rosneath Peninsula then they met guide John Stevenson of tour company Experience Scotland’s Wild for a walk up to Bheinn Dhu where they got stuck into some serious haggis throwing and even managed to wear kilts for the occasion! The group had a fun afternoon and loved the stunning views from the top, agreeing that the climb was well worth it.

A lovely lunch and a quick nap at the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel in Luss rounded off Manx Radio’s two- day trip before they made their way back to Glasgow Airport for the return home to the Isle of Man.

Radio presenter Alex said: “The hospitality and helpfulness we received from everyone was quite overwhelming and showed Loch Lomond in an exceptional light. We’re already looking forward to our next trip back... possibly with our families this time who are dying to experience the area we keep coming back from, singing its praises.”

We’re delighted that our visitors had such an amazing experience in and around Loch Lomond, Trossachs and Clyde Sea Lochs, and thanks to all our member businesses who took part in the trip.

Listeners can tune into Alex’s show on Friday 27 May from 2pm-6pm for a Loch Lomond special and for the chance to win a luxury trip to Loch Lomond – find full details on the Alex in the Afternoon Facebook page.
